My family and I are big foodies - we love to watch food shows, explore unique restaurants, and try new foods. One of our family vacation rules is we can't eat at a restaurant that we could at home. Anytime we book a vacation, the first thing my husband will do is look at local food and plan what we are going to eat, which is why when we booked our August 2021 Disney World vacation and learned that it would be during Epcot's Food and Wine Festival we all were beyond excited.
The first thing we did when we got to the countries is snagged one of the Food and Wine Festival passports that showed all the vendors, and the first thing my oldest did was pick out ALL the food she wanted to try. There was a lot we passed up either because the vendor's weren't open as they were waiting for the October 50th Anniversary, as well as a lot had mushrooms and we are not a mushroom family, but between the 3 days we visited Epcot, we were able to try a lot, and here are our top 5.

1. Greece: This was what Bob Ross likes to call a "Happy Accident". We wanted a break from the heat so we snagged some water and found a spot in the shade to cool down, which happened to be behind the Greece booth. As we were waiting I decided to try the spanakopita, and my husband opted for the Lamb Moussaka. I am a BIG spanakopita fan, and this was by far one of the BEST I have ever had. I originally got this for myself, but everyone tried a bite and fell in love. We ended up making another visit another day and got a couple for everyone to share.
2. Germany: This was one of our first couple of visits on the first day and we decided to try one of everything, as you can see in the picture below, and we all loved everything we tried, but our favorite was the bratwurst on a pretzel bun. We still talk about that to this day. This was one everyone loved, and where I personally fell in love with the Wild Cherry Schöfferhofer, that bratwurst was amazing.

3. France: This was one that my oldest saw in the passport and made it a mission to try the escargot, which still to this day surprises my husband and I. My oldest took the first bite, then my husband. My youngest wanted nothing to do with it (can't blame her), and I said why not try it. I took a small bite and when I pulled it away and saw a snail I instantly regretted it. To me it was okay, but my oldest said right away that she loved it and asked to finish it. She really fell in love with the escargot in a croissant which is why this is on our top 5.
Croissant aux Escargots and Beignet aux Trois Fromages |
4. China: This was a vendor we were all looking forward to. Our family are big dumplings fan, and we were so happy to see these on the menu and they did NOT disappoint. They were definitely spicy, and my daughter and I dove right in to try them, and regretted that decision as we sat on the sidewalk waiting for Nate to snag a bottle of water from a couple of countries over, but it was so worth it. We ended up getting these again later that night.

5. Flavors from Fire: Lastly on our list is the Corned Beef over Crispy Potatoes. This was a whole mix of happiness, from cheese curds to pickled onions. The girls were not a big fan, but my husband and I couldn't stop enjoying this. I think the thing that made this heaven was the Beer-Cheese Fondue - I mean seriously? Just writing this is making my mouth water.

As mentioned before, there was a lot of vendor's that were waiting for the 50th Celebration in October to open up, and sadly a lot of those vendor's were on our bucket list, and probably a couple of them would have made it to this list. I really wanted to try Brazil's Crispy Pork Belly, and my oldest wanted to try ALL of the Belgium Waffles. Maybe next time?
